LIVING IN NYC

My humble opinion...

I have now had an epiphany regarding the cause of the united states economic crisis. The reason we are all in this incredibly widening black hole of horror is because of New York City. Arguably the most greed driven city in the union, I must be somehow missing out on the incredulous privilege that it is to live in such a place.

To say I have some pent up angst in regards to this tiny yet saturated little island would be the cordial, right thing to do, however; I feel like being rather new-yorkish and saying it f*cking blows at the moment. You would think after the life altering events of 9-11 shattered the stick-it-to-you God love for money, well, we'd learn something, but life is as if that never happened.

A matter of particular disgust is the real estate brokers and stingy management companies of Manhattan offering little help at all for their fellow wall street guru, who only weeks ago would have been handed all of NYC on a silver platter, but currently face pink slips not only at the NYSE but also taped to the doors of their $3500/mth 250 sf studio apartments.

Jumping out a 4 story walk up has never seemed more inviting! And it is certainly no wonder that every job listed on craigslist is being applied for by the overqualified jobless execs, slowing things down for the good gals and guys who are now being shafted in their own fields. I guess its true what they say, if you can make it here you can make it anywhere.

I just want relief at this point. I have only been back for 4 days and I'm already exhausted by the pace of things. Maybe two weeks from now or when 2009 breaks through I will have a different outlook. For now, I am gorging myself on pizza and beer hoping that when I actually get my break, I will still fit in my economy-crisis-discount power suit.
